about the workshop

Set in the heart of the Brazilian Amazon, this workshop immersed participants in the biodiversity of the Tapajós region to inspire climate-responsive architectural solutions. Held in Alter do Chão, the program bridged local bioconstruction knowledge with parametric design methodologies. Participants engaged with Indigenous and regional building techniques explored fibre-based construction systems and developed computational strategies inspired by nature’s structural intelligence. Through hands-on prototyping and design research, the workshop contributed to the expansion of Escola da Floresta, culminating in a conceptual proposal for its new architectural extension ahead of COP 30 in 2025.
